ABOUT THE ALPHA ALPHA BETA OMEGA CHAPTER

Chapter History

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Alpha Alpha Beta Omega Chapter was chartered on April 15, 2018 in Miramar, Florida. The fifty-eight Charter Members are: Todra Anderson-Rhodes, Paula Anderson-Worts, Eunicia Baker, Patricia Barry, Katie Batson-Turner (Ivy Beyond the Wall), Nadine Baxter-Atkins, Sabrina Bouie-Floyd, Tiffany C. Britton, Misty X. Brown, Sebrina Burkes-Taylor, La’Tric Campfield-Brown, Tekeia Clark, Kayasa K. Cobb, Camille M. Coke, Gwen Coverson, Shauna Davis, Tanya I. Davis, Brandace R. Dean, Suzanne Dotson, Rene Edwards-Wheeler, Patricia Harper Garrett, Nina Boone-Grinion, Tonjeria M. Hammond, Shaakira Hardy, Garrie Harris, Altrese Hawkins, Billye Ivy, Bloneva Jones, Cheryl Larkin, Carol D. Lawrence, Christina B. Ward, Kha Demise White, Ruthe L. White and LaKesha Wilson-Rochelle. 

 In October 2014, Dr. La’Tric Campfield-Brown contacted several Alpha Kappa Alpha Members to discuss creating a chapter in the Miramar, Florida area. Sebrina Burkes-Taylor and the late Katie Batson-Turner shared the names of Alpha Kappa Alpha Members who lived in the area and were interested in seeking chapter status. During a June 2015 meeting, the group developed the name Pink Pearls of Miramar by a majority vote. By December 2015, the group had 25 committed members. Dr. Campfield-Brown contacted the South Atlantic Regional Director, Sharon Brown-Harriott for additional directions. Throughout 2016, the interest group gained 20 additional members. In February 2017, The Pink Pearls of Miramar became an official interest group. Dr. Campfield-Brown was selected as President and Dr. Rosa Roberts Simmons was chosen as Vice President in March 2017. The following year, February 2018, the Pink Pearls of Miramar was approved for chartering. 

Alpha Alpha Beta Omega Chapter serves as the first four-lettered Greek named chapter in the Significant South Atlantic Region. The chartering celebration was held at the Signature Grand in Davie, Florida and more than 400 family members, community leaders, and friends attended. Upon chartering, Alpha Alpha Beta Omega members voted to keep the current officers with Dr. La’Tric Campfield-Brown as President until the end of the fiscal year. In November 2018, Dr. Rosa Roberts Simmons was elected as the Chapter President and served until December 2020. In January 2021, Tammy T. Reed succeeded to the position of President of the Chapter after being elected First Vice President in November 2018. In January 2023, Cheryl D. Larkin succeeded to the position of the President of Alpha Alpha Beta Omega after being elected First Vice President in November 2020. She currently serves with pride and distinction.
